A Bloomin’ Good Time: How to Make Hibiscus Milk Tea

Ahoy, tea enthusiasts! Today, we embark on a whimsical journey to discover the delightful combination of hibiscus and milk, resulting in a cup of magical goodness known as Hibiscus Milk Tea. Ingredients: To embark on this tea-tastic adventure, gather the following ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of dried hibiscus petals ( Foxy Tea® Foxylicious™ (Hibiscus Tea))
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of milk (your choice of dairy or non-dairy, you can use less if you like more tea than milk)
  • Sweetener of your preference (honey, sugar, or a sprinkle of fairy dust)
  • Ice cubes (optional but delightful on a warm day)
  • If you plan to use ice, steep the tea for 7-8 min.

Step 1: Bloom Like a Hibiscus. First, let’s set the stage for our tea-tale by blooming those hibiscus petals. In a teapot or a heatproof container, pour the water over the petals (tea) and let them steep for about 5-7 minutes. If you are using loose leaf tea, place your tea in a tea bag or tea infuser. Otherwise, watch as the vibrant petals swirl and awaken, releasing their captivating essence into the water. Then discard the tea. If you like your tea sweet, add 2 tablespoons of sugar. I used organic cane sugar for my tea. Stir in the sugar with a spoon, mix until fully dissolved.

Step 2: Add delicious honey to a glass by squeezing a ring on the inside of your cup. If you are vegan, you can skip to the next step.

Step 3: A Floral Encounter. Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the union of hibiscus and milk. With the grace of a tea master, pour the hibiscus tea into your cup.  Then, pour the milk of your choice into your tea with a gentle stir.
